subaru wrx
Another drawback to the Evo's are that they heat up like an oven.. I have had some Evo owners I know complain about heat and cooling issues... Don't know if they're just stupid, or if it's a common thing... but that's just what i've heard about em
Stock '02-'05 WRXs run low 14's
Stock '06-'07 WRXs can dip into high 13's.
Stock '08+ WRX (I have no idea. They're too ugly to pay attention)
TBE with tune ($1,000-$1,500) '02-05 WRXs will run high 13's
TBE with tune ($1,000-$1,500) '06-'07 WRXs will touch mid 13's
STI Turbo Swap, TBE with tune ($1,500-$2,000 total investment) '02-'05 WRXs will run low to mid 13's
STI Turbo Swap, TBE with tune ($1,500-$2,000 total investment) '06-'07 WRXs can dip into the 12s but likely break their tranny in the process
I've had both an '02 WRX Wagon and an '06 WRX wagon. On the '06 I put an STI (VF-39) Turbo, STI TMIC, Cobb Catless DP, Borla Hush CBE, Custom Tune and made 304 AWHP. I ran 12.9s all day long. It was nasty from a launch, but I was scared to death of my tranny. The car ended up getting totalled, but I knew that tranny's days were numbered and would have had to swap it with an STI 6-speed eventually. Then you're looking at $3,000 to $4,000 grand plus installation. They're cheap to modify and make fast, but the trannys are glass.

I'm just curious if the newer gen WRXs have a more supportive fuel system... I haven't really kept up with the Subaru community since I sold my STi.
Did you not have to upgrade the injectors or fuel pump to hit 304 on your '06? I had an 04 WRX with basically the same mods but it also had STi pinks and a Walbro. TurboXS tuned it and it made 284whp.

Cool, well I think it's a good idea you got out of the Subaru modding game..take it from me, modding them is a slippery slope once you get going ha ha. Do a search for me on NASIOC and you can see how far I took it with my STi :P
