Do you even need DR's? Are you having traction problems. I run 14.2 up here at over 5000' and I have no traction issues at all from a dig. But, here's something interesting though...I'm also leaving at 1800-2k..car jumps a little, bogs..then goes. Now the interesting part...I've heard a few others here say they've had their best 60' and 1320 times with just leaving from an idle...car doesn't bog down, no momentum loss. I'm trying that next time.
We need a looser torque converter to help out with those 2k launches.

These are the same DR's I ran earlier this year and most of last year on my 4.0L/5spd coupe, which netted a best 60' of 1.906 and 14.312 ET (bolt-on V6). In that car I needed DR's. But in this car (an auto) I'm starting to wonder. Frankly, I'm a bit disappointed racing the convertible. It's not that it's all that slower than my old coupe, but drag racing an auto is boring. [the crowd gasps]. Sorry folks, but racing a stick shift is so much more fun and challenging than an auto. Maybe if I was bracket racing I'd want the auto, but going for low ET's in a stick shift is SO MUCH better IMO. At Monday's rental, one of the guys let me borrow his 4.0L/5spd for a pass after he wasn't able to lower his ET with my DR's on his car. I launched a 60' of 1.9xx, beating his best, but I took it easy on his car, granny shifting at 5500. Even so, banging gears in his car for that one run was alot more fun than the 13 runs I made with my auto.

I don't know, other than doing impressive burnouts with the DR's, I cannot say that I'm all that happy with my current set-up. I may sell the DR's and line locks, and cut back on my drag racing. That '66 in my sig needs some attention, so I may start wrenching on that instead.

Thanks for the input!

I would imagine you were bogging the motor. I've never run slicks or anything like that but even on street tires sometimes I get a better run with a little slippage. I think the motor likes the RPM. Try a high launch RPM.
