I don't care how bad your launch was, a stock geared LT1 with the only power mods being CAI, LT's and a catback isn't going to do much against a lid, tune, 3.73 LS1 from any speed.... espessially one that traps 99MPH

It will trap higher. It only trapped 99 because on every launch I bogged and rolled out about 20 feet before I started going. So, I had a shorter length to gain speed and started in a dead spot in the RPM's.

tspence...simple fact..until you pull it off it's not a fact... trust me I've been there before...my old light bolt on setup was trapping 103mph in the 1/4 on 2.5+ 60fts and running low 14s... I knew it had more in it but until I managed to get a good launch on it no one was going to let it be anything more than a 14 second car... just how it is.

Hit up the track, get a great pass and everything will be good.

There is another MFBA rental this spring *early may usually*..we can talk then. haha

Unfortunately Tspence thats they way it is, i only managed 14.0 at 100mph with my srt4 running 8lbs of boost without supporting mods. Im sure my car is capable of more with all the supporting mods running 22lbs but until i do it still a damn slow 14s car lol

I understand that. But he's basing it off I can't run with an LS1 because I only ran a 14.3, even though the car obviously has more in it. Whether you want to believe it or not Morbid, that's how the race happened and those are the correct mods for each car. Before his lid, and before my tune when we ran, it went basically the same way, with me actually pulling up top. But, in your eyes, the LT1 is crap and slower than ****. You've had this thing about bashing the LT1 for the past few months, and I'm really wondering why.

it's not really bashing the LT1.... it's having a problem with the owners, not necisarily you...

some of the LT1 faithful stories are less than true and more than amusing

you modded a low-mid 14 second car with basic exhaust work.... your friend modded a low-mid 13 second car with steeper gears, CAI+tune and a shift kit

the LS1 should just walk passed you, it's just basic knowlege

I have no problem with LT1 cars... and one of my friends has a pretty well built one, sort of like you... and here in lies my point

my friends LT1's mods are LT headers, midpipe, catback, CAI, LT4 intake, and a cam

I have a CAI + tune... this is how it is between us

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvUc56bSiQM

take away the I/C combo from that car and it's basically your car from a roll... and much, much, much slower

and that is why I find this story hard to beleive unless the LS1 car wasn't running right

I'm sorry Tspence but Morbid has very good cause to bust your ***** here. My automatic 2.73-geared "secretary's version" LS1 made it comfortably into the 12s at almost 110 mph with a very short mod list (lid, full exhaust, Nittos, nothing else). Your LT1, also with a very modest list of mods, is somehow hanging with and sometimes even running down lightly modded LS1s similar to mine. Go get some solid 12 second, 107+ timeslips and post them.
With an automatic, running from a rolling start can be a little weird. Black-and-white timeslips, however, do not lie.

I'm not lying. I could probably get some new runs on video. With the roll, he left it down in low to make sure it started in 1st. Then, as soon as he hit it, he threw it up into D because he knows it'd be slower shifting it himself. I'll get ahold of him sometime tomorrow or this weekend and see if he wants to go again and if I can get the camera, we'll get a vid of it. What else can I say, other than I must have a stronger running LT1 than most? Hopefully he'll do it this weekend. Because the first to mid of next week, my UDP and 1.7RR's will be going on, which will be a decent power increase compared to where I'm at now.

^ Dont get a ticket, or something like that trying to prove you are faster on the top end than a LS1. It's simply not worth it. Take it to the track and get a low-low 13 sec slip, and call it a day.

Pushing it up into D isn't going to do anything, unless the trans is ready to shift anyways. I don't doubt you have a strong car, but it does seem odd to pull on a LS1 up top. Even if he doesn't have much done to it. Unless your 4-5 gear split is your saving grace.5th for you is .75, and 4th for him would be .70, correct? Really not that big of a difference, though... Do you think ya'll are making close to the same rear wheel numbers?

I didn't pull on the LS1 up top. Thats where he took me. I got my lead 1st-3rd. Then, when I hit 4th he started coming back. When I hit 5th (125-130), I was done for. The only thing I don't understand is how I was able to pull on him in 5th before my tune and his lid. I didn't think a lid would make a bigger difference than a tune would. Because when he first got the car, we were screwing around and he took off first and I got even with him at 135 and passed him. And yeah, neither of us really need speeding tickets. I'm on probation until the end of the month, and he just got one for 80 in a 55 yesterday. That's his 3rd moving violation in 2 months. I'm pretty sure he'll probably lose his license for it.

He put it in D because he knew that it'd shift faster than shifting it himself through the gears. The only reason it wasn't in D the whole time was because he wanted to make sure he didn't have to wait for it to downshift to going from the 15 roll.
