LT1 vs. LS1
We had a big family dinner for my aunt's bday today, so my cousin was there with his '98 SS auto hardtop with 3.73's, SLP lid, shift kit, no muffler, and tune. He went for a ride with me, with his GPS after the dinner, so we could see if my speedo was off after the tune or not. Sure enough, it was off a decent amount. So, come to find out, I've still got the stock 3.42's, instead of 3.73's, like I had thought before. After I dropped him back off at his car, we decided to run them from a 15 roll. He jumped right before the 3rd honk, but we went anyways. I pulled right away to a 1/2-3/4 car lead through 3rd. When I hit 4th, the pull stopped instantly. He started creeping up and we were about dead even by the top of 4th(125-130). As soon as I hit 5th, he started a pretty steady pull and had a car lead by about 140-145. It was a good race and really surprised me after the last time we messed around. Before my tune and before his lid, we ran and I had him on the topend of things even. I would pull in 5th, the exact opposite of how it went tonight. Either way it was a good time. He keeps saying his is faster, but I had him in the 1/4 mile, which is what matters for the most part. Oh well, I'll just put my UDP and 1.7RR's on next week and do my LS1 intake lid setup and get some 4.10's in a few weeks, then a retune and we'll see who takes the topend then. lol
Oh jesus, not this again. That was because of my sh*tty launches. When you do a 15 roll, you eliminate the bad part of my runs. Even if we had gone from a dig, I can launch it fine on the street. I just had way too much grip at the track.
Well, I wouldn't have had that problem if I had launched it higher. But, I was being a puss. You know how us Fbody guys are when we have DR's on the stock 10bolt. lol. Every time I decided I'd launch higher, the axle hop on the burnout would scare me away. Now that I've got the LCA's, LCA relocation brackets, and PHB to eliminate the axle hop, I shouldn't be so scared to do it.

haha yeah. He still owes around 8k on it. Mine's been paid off since the day I drove it home last January. It's not going to keep him from modding it though. It'll be cammed by this time next year. He's got more money than he knows what to do with. Hopefully I'll have a better job and have a more steady income to be able to afford my 383 stroker build by this time next year. On a good note, all this has encouraged me to go ahead and order new valve springs, retainers, locks, locaters, pushrods, and guideplates, so that I can get my 1.7RR's put in next week. So, I'm about $36X shorter now. lol.
and when you do a 15 roll it also eliminates it being the 1/4 mile.
