Where do you people get your info from? LS1s are 350 crank hp and throw down in the 300-ish range and LT1s are rated 285 crank hp. An LT1 car only posses a threat to an S197 GT if it is modded and the GT isn't or the driver in the GT sucks ***.

The LT comment is about right, but 270 for an LS1 is VERY low. I'v never seen one under 285 and those are auto's. Manuals average 300-305, some as high as 315, although I'v never seen one higher than 310 personally. There is a very big difference between LT1 and LS1. Nearly a full second in the quarter mile...

And I forgot to mention, LT1 cars stock are about mid 14 second cars, a well driven WRX is also a mid 14 second car. I would hope a car with about 30-35 more wheel HP than stock would be faster than a stock car.

No you guys were right the wiki page I was reading on the LT1 had me confused. Apparently there were several versions of the LT1. One did make 300 but the one they put in the '92-'95 F-body was 275.

LS1 > LT1 stock-for-stock. It's a fairly noticable difference for sure if you've ever raced a stock LT versus the LS or been in either car as a passenger. I'm going to see how well I match up against my friend's stroked LT1 with my stock LS1, and I'll post the results in a new thread. He's having transmission issues, but I expect he'll probably beat me with his 383 setup + reworked stock heads and all that. I'll see if I can get a video for you so you can see how things line up. Should be an interesting race for sure. I've been looking forward to it for awhile, but he's always had some problem or another these past few months and I've been over there helping him with it.

Oh, don't worry, I know he would have wooped me even if it was dry, but I still say its stupid to race anything on the street in the rain.
