Default Sixty foot help

I just placed an order for 17x10.5 Rims with 315 Sumitomo Z tires in back.
I have a 2000 GT Auto with shift kit, shift tune, and 3200 stall. I also have a few suspension mods: FRPP C springs, Fr. brace, Rr. brace.
Would it be possible to get a 2.0 60' with these babies? I've found thats my biggest problem; I'll either spin the crap out of my start, or not give it enough throttle to get a good run.

street tires and a hight stall are not a good mix,IMO, with a stall like that and DRs you should be able to pull sub 2.0 60's, I suggest gettign a set of DRs for the rims your taking off the car if your going to the track a lot. in this case tread width size matters less than compound

+1!!

if you buy some mickey thompson ET streets, you can have them mounted on your old rims, some 235-255 wide tires.

mount them the day before the track, drive them to work if need be, drive to the track, warm them up pretty good, and you will hook like crazy, and be able to drive home with em.

OP, your car is capable of a 2.0 60' stock. If you're spinning now, you're only going to spin worse with a stall. Adding 315s won't do a whole lot considering they're still street tires. Basically, +1 to everything Stkjock posted.

+1 to everyone. You can't expect to be hooking well on a street tire. The only reason you may hook a little better with those 10.5 wheels and 315 tires is that they are heavy enough to slow you down. Tire compound means everything when it comes to hooking.

I agree with what has been said. I had the Sumitomo tires when I bought my rims too, and they are decent for the street, but do not perform well on a track. The compound isn't soft enough. I would suggest doing what has been suggested, mount a good set of drag radials to the old rims for when you are going to go to the track. That is what I have done, and it helps. Also keeps you from tearing up the tires you run on the street and want to last a while.
