Default Need advice for the track!

I'm going again this Wed. and I need some suggestions on how to better my times. It's going to be fuggin hot again[:@] so that is already against me. I am going to bring ice this time.......I put that on the upper intake right?
Should I take the spare tire/jack and speaker box out?? I wonder if it would be better just to keep that in there so there is more weight on the rear end......especially cause I have lowering springs that lowered the front more than the rear. IDK......help please!

What I used to do in my GT is fill the front tires up to about 40-45 lbs of air. I think the max is 50lbs. That will help with reducing the rolling friction up front. Drop the rear tires down to about 20-24 psi and start there. If traction sucks then let a pound or two out with every run after till it gets better. If it doesnt get better by 14-15 psi then fill them back up to 32 and start letting it down from there. For some reason, I never could hook well at all with my tires below 22 psi.

I would also take a bag of ice out with you in a trash bag and throw it on the intake. After its set there for an hour or two drive the car just long enough to get the cars operating temp up. Your intake temps will still be low. That will allow you to get cooler air.

Take the spare tire and jack and all those *****'s out of your trunk and back seat. The less weight the better.

If you are on street tires then AVOID the waterbox if possible. If you have to do a burn out on street tires then do it just long enough to clean the trash off. When street tires heat up they tend to get oily and dont stick well.

If you are on drag radials then back into the water box and keep your front tires out of it. On your very first run, burn the hell out of the drag radials. Every run after that just heat them up a little.

Stage as shallow as possible. This way you wont redlight by jumping the gun.

Feather the clutch and gas. If you start spinning and the clutch is out then feather the gas by letting up till it catches then roll back into it.

Power shift the hell out of the car. The tranny isnt going to last forever. LOL

When you get to the finsih line and on the way to the ET booth, cross your fingers and pray that you have beaten your last best. LOL

Cool, I will take out all the extra weight then. I'm on street tires[:'(] so I can't launch that high. I was launching about 3K last time with my tires at 30PSI and was spinning off the line.....not too bad but more than I wanted.

On street tires I wouldnt launch any more than 1500 rpms. My street tires on my GT was hard as a rock before I invested in drags.

Yeah, I think I'm going to launch at no more than 2.5K and see how that goes. I should be able to let the clutch out faster with less spin. At 3K I had to feather that bish and feather the freaking gas too![&:]
