haha the STi's EJ25T is NOT close to maxxed out. It's set at 14.2ish PSI from the factory. Forged internals will support much more boost than that. How much though I'm not exactly sure. We need iwrxit to throw us some information here. You're going to have just as much potential with the STi as you are a Mustang GT.
My bad. Even still though, it would be easier to mod the stang is perhaps what I should of said.

Of course, I know little of cars, so perhaps I shouldn't be talking at all.

Well, it's crazy for the engine that is producing it.
theres the point you needed to make, ...j/k, im just dicking with you

but yea, i konw for a 2.4 to be making anywhere in teh vicinity of 300 ft/lbs is impressive

im convinced the tourqe number is much more impressive than teh horsepower number .. as im sure you will agree

A car that's already forced inducted will be much easier to squeeze power from. Bolt ons on an FI engine will produce more gains.

The stang will be much easier to work on, I'll give you that. Have you ever seen where the spark plugs are on a Subaru? Oh hell no. lol

We all had to start somewhere with cars, and we all never stop learning.

I was impressed that they squeeze equal power/tq from the engine, but Subaru has been in the Flat 4 turbo business for a long time. If I could afford insurance on a WRX, I'd have had one a loooong time ago.

with forged pistons, turbo upgrade, and supporting mods the STi can hit at least 450whp, depending on the turbo. Oh and the pistons allows it to rev to 8500RPM. Look for a FMIC, then you'll know if they mean business. I used to be a WRX owner, now i own a 240SX. I know, rice, but it has 380whp and will have 475whp by this fall. My next project will hopefully be a 99 Cobra and put on a s/c w/ a lot of suspension work. I'm a track *****...

here's a mod list of my car and pics.... http://www.a2sportcompacts.com/jake.htm

lol sorry for going off topic but, look out for the STi's even some WRX's.

An STi with just a turbo back exhaust and engine management like a utec with a good dyno tune will put out around 390tq and 350hp.

the WRX has 227hp and 217tq. I've never raced a 99-04 GT, But I've heard its a drivers race. If your friends car is stock than it cant take you since yours isnt stock, She just needs a turbo back and engine management to run with you.

STi are no joke. They fair up against the Cobra until about 100-110. Atfer that we say bye bye and just see the tail light of that V8 beast. Drivetrain loss is ugly at highway speeds, but from a dig it's a monster. Like everyone has said, with simple EM and exhaust, the STi just gets sweeter. With a new turbo slapped on to it, you could easily match up to a KB stang. It's all on how much you want to spend. My input is strait out of the box, the STi is just a better car all round. Yes you spend more, but you get alot for that extra $$. Examples are the brembos all the way around, nicer build qualty, and of course the AWD with the DCCD.

the dealership says up to 20 lbs on stock internals. with an FMI and full exhaust you have 325 awhp and 35ft-lbs torque
