First let me say this isnt about a race i had, sorry if i've already waisted some peoples time... now then...

i pulled up behind what i think was a subaru wrx sti today at my favorite intersection (for peeling, not racing) .

It had the wing that went almost up to the roof, and WRX by one tail , and STi by the other...

is this really the car that runs mid to low 13's? if my memory serves me correct?

my god, i can't believe how ugly (in my opinion) and common they look other than that ugly (once again, in my opinion) wing on the back. There was just some old lookin dude in the drivers seat to so i revd up to about 2500,, just a nice growl, but he just looked in the mirror real quick and went on his merry way.

IF someone could post a pic of the rear of a silver one of these (hell, any color will work) i would be able to tell if thats what it was.

i was hoping whoever it was would go on down the road towards a big opening that i konw a few people use to race, but i had to turn off considering the old guy didnt even give me a rev back.. so oh well, aybe some other time

and if i were to race to say 70-80ish, how ugly would it be, assuming he's stock and im as i am? (signature mods)

that is what i saw for sure,,

didnt see it from the front but i still got a good view of the rear,,

like i said before..what is that car able to run, i was thinking it was just a tad slower than a new evo or something,, obviously i dont pay much attention to cars like this, just my bias

but i woudl like to konw how i would fair against it with 4.10's and midpipe and catback (no cats )

An STi against a 99 GT with 4.10s... well, you'd get raped.

It may be ugly, but it demands respect for it's crazy torque. 300/300.

 

I'm debating between that (STi, if I can get it for 30K, possible) and the mustang. They're totally different cars, I know. The mustang has the performance and the looks. The STi takes a big hit on looks for performance. I think it's ugly. Plus, with the STi, the engine is already closed to maxed (given that it isn't naturally aspirated). The 'stang has a lot more to give (with a t/c or s/c) than the STi if I ever went the mod route.

Pure speed, handling and traction (AWD) the STi wins hands down. But the look of the Mustang, oooooo, the sweet look.

 

How can you consider buying a car that you think is ugly? Buy a Stang and slap a s/c on there. You'll forget all about that STi.

 

haha the STi's EJ25T is NOT close to maxxed out. It's set at 14.2ish PSI from the factory. Forged internals will support much more boost than that. How much though I'm not exactly sure. We need iwrxit to throw us some information here. You're going to have just as much potential with the STi as you are a Mustang GT.

Well, it's crazy for the engine that is producing it. You make 302 ft lbs out of an NA 281, where as it makes 300 out of a turbo 2.5L H4.
