12 sec runs on street tires?

Sure it's been done. It's not a piece of cake though.

If I go to the track every once and a while and launch it,how will it affect my driveshaft, posi, trans etc...?? Am I gonna break the DS in two?

Thanks!
Me and several of my friends have dr's and none of us have ever broke anything. Most of us are on stock clutches, rear end, etc. Had several track runs as well.

That's why i really like Nitto dr's. Great all around tire for street/strip use. They wear well, and don't hook so hard that they shock the hell out of the driveline. They are a great compromise between grip, wear, and good street manners.

TRUST ME, i know it's no cake walk-13's were hard enough lol. But seriously it has been done and I've improved every run in both ET and mph(4 runs total). I'd like to see how close I can get.

As far as launching idk man. My worst 60ft ever was 2.3 or 2.4? it was on 285 555s but they were brand new that day and had like 3 miles of driving on them and they were slick as hell from the oil coating. The car spun like a SOB---15.2 hahaha. I also missed the powershift for 4th and had to hit the brakes before the traps. 72mph....lol. Straight up though those tires hooked just as poorly as the stock pirellis. Just ride the clutch out, that's what I do and my launches are always pretty decent.

I would have gone for the nittos because 1. theyre the cheapest and 2. they dont hook the best and a little spinning sounds good to me(pray for my DS) but I think my friend is giving me his old MT's off his terminator. Get ready for traction!!!! What do you launch at???

With a better launch the mph improves too right? mind you it spins pretty bad!

I launch around 3-3.5k with a quick slip of the clutch, but i just got them, so i need more practice to find my best.

You actually could trap slightly lower with a good launch, because you'll be covering the same distance in a shorter period of time.

Just be careful with the MT's...they WILL hook like mad!!! My buddy has some as well, and he drops it at 6k on his Bullitt.

Also, I was just told the big staggered deep dish 18" rims and heavy tires might be affecting my ETs and traps-rotating mass??? How much would it affect it you think?

Really depends on the difference in weight! Are you comparing this to the stock tires and rims? What's the difference from your stockers to your your current setup in weight?

An example is my stockers (17x8) weighed about 43 lbs. per tire/wheel. My new rears (17x 10.5) are about 53 per. I kept the fronts the same.

There was no measurable difference. My bro and i were dead even (drivers race) with my stockers as well as my current setup.

Pretty big difference. I had 17x8 with 235s all around now i have 18x9 255 and 18x10 285. I once did a calculation and i think it added 75lbs for all 4 if i remember correctly

Yea, I'm going to the track this Fri I think.....One thing I'm def going to do it shift at 6300-6500rpm. I think by extending the revs it'll bring up the rpm in the next gear giving me a lower ET and higher trap.

Second, and this one's hard, I'm debating switching to the stockers for the strip. Idk though. On one hand the heavy wheels and tires are killing my rotational mass and giving me worse times.

On the other hand I ROAST the 285 Nittos with the 4.10s, I don't think the stock 235 All season tires will stand a chance-even at sticky E-town!

What do you guys think?.....If what they say about spinning is tru the pirellis would def up my trap a lot. LOL
