COLLEGE PROJECT, NEED DATA!!!
Here's the info for my old car you can use. Bear in mind that I wasn't the one who took it to the drag strip, it was the new owner.
1) Subaru WRX STi
2) 2004
3) Yes (turbo)
4) $21,000 purchase price
at least $20,000 in performance mods
5) 2.8L 4 cylinder (boxer engine, bored from 2.5L)
6) Best 1/4 mile time (new owner) 12.1 @ 118mph on the pump gas map (456whp), was never run on race gas (565whp) before the motor exploded again apparently.
Kind of a shame too, I would have liked to see what it could do on the good gas

& thank you guys, keep it coming. You can already see that F/I does seem to be the bang for the buck for crazy performance (in my books, a 11 sec street car is fast).
LOL, AND BB...Every time I seem to doubt the FWD 4cyc class, I just think of your car.

I think mine (and other old-ish cars) will throw off your data some, but here it is anyway.

4. $2000 for the car : $1000 in mods

With out a doubt you can see a the relationship between quick times vs. money invested. Most people here are close to 10g invested into their cars for a 11 sec time slip.
Maybe consider basing it on what percentage of the car's worth is spent in mods. In TRBOPWR's case, he spent 50% of his car's sale price on mods. Looks like the other fellas have roughly a 3rd of their cars worth in mods. FI is a lot of bang for the buck, but it still runs into some decent money. I think you'll find that cars in general are the worst investment ever.

Dude your head is got to be swimming with all the facts & figures. I think it's interesting to think about modded price Vs. new MSRP purchase price. Look what it would cost to purchase an 11 second car new. 80K to 100K seams like the going price for serious performance from the factory.
