COLLEGE PROJECT, NEED DATA!!!

How about people racing in Denver.. that will skew the 1/4 mile #s as well.. they lose nearly a full second in good conditions..
S8ER01z you were given your car? I thought you had lid/springs when you did that run.

If going by original price... the car was just a tick under 23K.
If going by what I paid... the car was just under 16K.
Not sure what data OP wanted to use but I figured 'what I paid' wouldn't be of much value so MSRP would probably make more sense.
Also had no mods when I made my stock passes (stock means stock for me, plugs, wires, Original tires, paper filter, etc, etc)... the dyno was done with the FRA/1LE springs but I have no passes with the lid/springs on and only passes made with the springs/lid installed were done on really bad track day (it ended up shutting down to 1/8th mile due to conditions after ~45mins and then after a Vete and GTO wrecked top end the track was closed for the day) so I only had 2 passes and both were 2.5+ 60fts spinning in 2nd and 3rd gear and coasting through the traps. Not really of any use for something like this IMHO. I hope to get in some good passes on the nittos once the track opens.

1000 in mods, not really. 2000 for the car, yes, lol. I'm not sure how I want to do the money used to purchases the vehicles. If I wana use the price paid, or the msrp of the vehicle new, or just not include it.
With out a doubt you can see a the relationship between quick times vs. money invested. Most people here are close to 10g invested into their cars for a 11 sec time slip.

There are just so many variables here, I too would be interested to see how you turn it into a research project and wouldn't mind being able to read the final product.
I have no problem posting this when I'm done. I can promise you that you'll be able to find holes and other "variables" that would change things. However, I'm keeping it simple and I'm going show that the faster cars that "drag race" have more money put into them then the slower ones(I hope anyway!!LOL).
I know you can buy a new car to run 11's around 80-100G or you can buy a stang/SRT/WHATEV for 25, put 10g in and be faster. But I have a feeling when I collect my data, will be able to see that you can go so fast for so little for so long, its pricey.

hey im also majoring in economics at USC. I wish u the best of luck on this. Definately an interesting topic. Sounds to me like your doing a simple linear regression w/ correlation? Or multiple with other factors such as engine size, etc?
Yes, ty acarzt for that. I only need investments that are for drag racing, however, I don't mind anyone sharing what they did to their cars.
Hey Foolio2k4, ty for the gl. For now I'm doing a simple regression line w/ correlation. I know the professor is going to want more then that, it's for my Econmetrics class (one of, if not the, hardest classes you have to take). For our mid term, we had to run a regression line by hand (open notes). I got a 59/100 and w/ his curve, B- (LOL). People still failed that test w/ his curve!
Yes, there are many factors that I will be using as variables and, like I said b4, I already know there will be holes and plenty of things to change my outcome. I plan on going to my local race track (ATCO) and have them fill this out also, that way we have some other engine sizes in there.
But pretty much this will prove that it takes money to play this game and prob a Ccard to play w/ the big boys

Hey everyone,
I'm in the processing of the finishing this paper, however, I'm still collecting data. So this is a last call and once again, thank you guys, I greatly appreciate this.
