Manual launch tips/suggestions
The one 2.2 I got on the stock 235's was like a 2.2999999999. Sigh...
The parking brake method is also gonna be harder on the clutch. Maybe not that much harder but it absolutely has to result in a little extra abuse.
I really don't understand what the point to it is. You should be able to launch the car just as hard without doing that - assuming it doesn't want to roll out like Stone said his seems to.
I agree that learning the engagement point well, which is something I haven't done, is a good idea. When I launch I don't get the clutch right at that point and then go from there. I usually start with the pedal to the floor and start slipping up - giving it throttle and starting the actual launch right when I sense the car barely beginning to move. Later on when I'm going for a better R/T I'll have to learn that engagement point better.
4.10 gears were what allowed me to get to a 2.0 60'. Before that it was always a struggle to even hit a 2.3 without traction control helping me out. I think a 1.8 should be doable assuming I'm up to it skillwise. Which ATM I am not.

ive only pulled 2.0's on both stock 235 tires/stock suspenions and 305 nitto DR's with lca's..... this kinda tells me i need more seat time cause clearly i should have cut sub 2 sec 60' with my current setup.... i feel johnnyv8 is right but out of it all, pratice and throttle control as in launch RPM to the amount of throttle after launch has the biggest impact on 60's.....
An automatic makes life a lot easier. Kinda takes some of the required skillz out of the picture.
EDIT:
A pair of soft soled tennis like chuck taylors goes a long way towards making the feel a lot better when working the clutch and the throttle.

He tried to go last week but they cancelled the races. The dingalings who leased it this year are newbs and didn't get an EMS. They waited until the night before the race to post the cancellation - and Mishri had already driven here for the race.

It's not looking good out there this year. Our first Friday DOT race was tonight. Was a ghost town out there. 10 people in the stands, 8 or 10 cars racing. Yikes. I'm thinking tomorrow should be a lot busier.

Uh-oh. Well rip, I hope for you fella's sake, the owners get on the ball and figure out how to make it work. Any idea why that particular track seems to keep falling on its face? Poor management, bad location?
