if you're gonna get track only tires get either MTs or M&Hs IMO. Radials if you'll drive to the track on them, full slicks if you'll swap at the track. However slicks will require you to get smaller diameter wheels.

You don't need M&H's....A BFG or Nitto would be fine.

I recommend to you and OP to buy a second set of wheels and mount slicks on them. Buy a battery powered impact wrench. Profit.

I want to be able to go WOT from a roll in 1st gear when I feel like it (around town) without blowing the tires off.. Hence the need for drag radials even when driving away from the track. The summer tires are going bye-bye in exchange sooner or later.

You don't think the M&H 275/45 would be a better drag tire than a NT05R 285/40? The M&H has more sidewall and might have a better compound.

I think for your power level you won't need M&H's. Do they have a new tire out? I thought it was basically like a MT and had one line to meet DOT approval? Does Nitto not carry the 555r anymore?

On a cold tire, even a slick, you're gonna blow them off at WOT in 1st gear.

The M&H is just the racemaster. The "new" tire is the 275/45/18 they have out this year.

Actual, non SAE, power to the tires is probably closer to 385-420 when you take into account the thin 5000+ foot air around here.

2nd gear from a roll will spin right now toward the top of the gear if I start low or immediately if I stab it north of 3000. Goodyear summer tires.

I was hoping the racemaster would at least let me enjoy first gear from a roll. Guess I'll be the guinea pig next summer then. I could also just borrow Mishri's 275/50/17 racemasters and see how that hooks up for s&g's.
