Was He Running Scared?
Went for a cruise on the local boulevard yesterday.
Spotted a new Camaro SS approaching from behind.
I slow down a bit so he can pull alongside.
Suddenly he accelerates when he's at my rear bumper, and speeds away before I have a chance to D/S.
He gets caught up in traffic way ahead.
I pace myself.
Finally catch up to him at a red light.
He's 1st in the right lane.
There's a line of cars in the left lane.
I pull behind him.
He guns it when the light turns green, and keeps his foot in it.
No sense speeding up trying to catch him.
He does the same thing at the next red light.
This continues at every red light until we gets caught up in heavy traffic.
No chance to do any racing now.
I maneuver ahead of him in traffic.
Now I'm 1st in the left turn lane at the next light.
He's right behind me.
We're turning onto another boulevard.
There won't be any lights or traffic ahead of us for at least 1/2 mile.
I'm licking my chops.
I pull into the left lane after the light turns green waiting for him to make his move into the right lane.
And what does he do?
He stays on my tail, and turns onto the 1st side street.
Now I'm positive this Camaro SS owner was afraid his 425 hp behemoth may have lost to a lowly 4.6L 3V, and he would not have been able to live with the humiliation.
For me, that was almost as satisfying as a kill.
