Don't try to manually shift an automatic. Just leave it in drive or OD, it doesn't matter.

This is what I do when I go to the track. I make sure traction control is OFF I leave the car in D, and turn off O/D. After I warm up the tires i pull up and stage, as soon as I am staged (I have my left foot on the brake and right on the gas) I ease into the gas to bring the rpm's up and get ready to go. As soon as you see the green light put it on the floor and relese the brake at the same time.

when i'm in the car with acer and he nails it, he starts in 1 then 2 then drive. shifts about 1k before redline so that it shifts just at redline. said it made a difference on his times at the track when he did it there.

It shifts when the computer tells it too...unless it's vacum controlled, which it isn't. The reason he shifts 1k before redline and it doesn't shift, is b/c the computer hasn't reached it's shift point. Tell him he's gay and he's wasting time. [8D]

If you wait for the green, you will have an aweful reaction time. The time to go is on the last yellow.
