Wow old talon tsi?
In my 01 Gt I used to hammer stock TSI's they are fast factory cars no doubt about it, but they just can;t hang all I had done to my stang was CAI and Cat backs.... I will try and pull some old vids of it.. it was from 2002 so its a bit old..... Not trying to slam them at all they are fast units but when you compare a modded TSI you have to match it with a modded stang if both are running the same boost the stang will win hands down.... Its a little thing Called Cubic Inches as well what is the difference in wieght between the 2?

So i figure even though his advantage is on highway....what the hell run him anyway so we were prolly doin like somewhere around 55-60 and i rev it up and drop into fourth and then he drops so where side by side for like i dunno like 20 sec. and then i hear this big *** turbo spoolin and then he just leaves my *** behide as he passed i saw all the gauges and stuf but anyway i got off the next offramp with my head hung low. Anyhow I think i would have had a change if we were on the street what do you guys think????

I don't get where people get the idea that shorter gears are bad for races from a roll. They will get you to your powerband extremely quicker than a taller gear.

A little off the subject..but, I used to have a Dodge Conquest TSI aka Mitsubishi Starion. Not overly popular but they were the test beds leading to the Eclipse. It had a 2.6L four and six speed standard. I put a lot into the motor and had it making 400hp pushing 12-14psi boost at 7000rpm. This was an 87' car so it was before computer tuning, I had the timing and TBI crank triggered. The car never hooked hard due to independent rear suspension wouldn't plant good. I would love to have that car back now and see how my 05' Stang stacks up to it.

... it just obvious not many people here have driven or been in a fast 4 banger

No, they weren't. The 1st generation is several tenths slower in the 1/4 mile than the 2nd, but when it comes down to it, they're almost identical. Both generations came with the same engine.

Faster? Wtf? From a roll, yeah, a little, but in the 1/4 mile, nothing beats the traction that comes from awd.

ahhh, its faster because it runs about 7 more PSI through a much larger turbo (16g). It also flows much better in all aspects. Its 90% the same as earlier cars part for part when your building it up anyway. "Stronger parts" don't make the engine more powerful. The reverse engine mounting has NOTHING to do with it either. Nice try though.

Just thought I'd leave everyone a side note: The Evo engine is not the same as the DSM Triplets (Laser, Talon, Eclipse). While it may be the 4G63 engine still, the reason the Evo is so much quicker than the DSM cars is because the engine is a) reinforced with stronger parts and b) mounted in the reverse way. being mounted the Evo way allows for an overall stronger connection along the drivetrain, which allows it to be pushed more. The Evo is also better built for racing performance overall with stronger rods and pistons, but i know you all know what those are for lol. Just letting ya know... Later

Actually there smartass, the REVERSE ENGINE MOUNTING DOES affect the power output. On DSM’s, 1G’s and 2G’s, their engine layout requires a device to once again reverse the rotation of the input into the Transmission. By having the Reverse rotation in the Evo7-8-9 well you eliminate that power robbing converter and the Evo can and will put another 15-20WHP to the ground.
PLEASE do not talk about things you don’t know about, M’k?

Now that you guys bring it to my attention I should have dropped it into third. Maybe thats why I wasnt goin nowhere LOL. I dont know I guess I was cought up in the adrenaline and wasnt thinkin clearly. Any I have already started the process of single turboing my stang the pipes from turbochargedpower are on their way

Wow a turbo 5.0, that would be great.
Just wondering, how efficient is the single cam head? You made need to port it or if you have to coin drop on a GT40 head of some sort. Also you may want to consider a 3.0 exhaust and if possible true duals.
Quick question, no wars please, which is a BETTER modding platform? Is it true that the 5.0’s have stronger bottom ends? Can hold boost better (sort of like comparing an LT1 vs. an LS1?)
How much power can a stock 5.0 bottom end hold?
well a 5.0 is alot cheaper to build than a over head cam motor but if I were to go over head cam I would go all the way with the 4v intsead of the 2v. I dont know the truth to this but I guess in my opinion in how I feel, is that the 5.0 is stonger. I have also head that the 5.0 and 4.6 are rated pretty much the same as far as max power on stock internals. But I just plan to run moderate boost on my stock internals 5.0 around 9.5-10 psi. starting this coming spring and then once next fall comes just take it to the track turn the boosta all the way up pull some numbers till I hang a rod
and rebuild it over the winter

the first gen 4G63 motor doesnt have this little problem called "crankwalk" that the 2nd gen (95-99 turbo eclipses/talons) have. so its safer to mod the hell out of
