This race happened about 3 months ago now, but I thought I'd share anyway. Since it's winter and I miss driving my car all the time. I was just out for a little cruise on a Friday night when I spotted a white 5.0. I knew the guy and his car so I knew he'd be game to race if I could catch back up to him. I wasn't sure what his mods were but I knew his tune had been tinkered with. And some exhaust work. So I quickly went around the block and start following him. I stalked him all the way to the edge of town. The guy obviously knew what I was up to. Once I see that the coast is clear and safe enough to give it a go, I slowly start creeping up towards him, but he just takes off while I was still about 2 lengths behind him. Im doing arou 55 mph and I got on it a little bit as soon as I could react and was gaining fast. By the time I caught him i had it all the way to the floor and was pulling past him pretty hard. By the time I hit 120 mph I was a few lengths ahead, and then I saw his headlights dip down in my Sideview mirror, letting me know that he let off.

This was my first decent kill since I got all my mods installed. Which my mods are ARF 205's, MS3 cam, FAST intake, pacesetter LT's, fully built 4L60E with FTI 3600 stall.

I also raced a 5th gen LS3 Camaro with a big cam and PRC heads, from a 25 roll on street tires. I lost by a couple lengths but I spun hard in 1st gear, and was slowly pulling back once I hit the top of 2nd. From a dig with my new DRs I know it would be a completely different outcome.

 

Nice set up man, definitely more than capable of taking down a tune only 5.0. I had a H/C Ls1 SS a couple years ago, so I know what they can do. Those LS3s will break your heart though lol!

 

Thanks man! Yeah the LS3 got me, but only because i blew the tires off in 1st gear. Plus my car was misfiring like crazy that whole race. I hope to run into the guy again this year, because the car is running top notch now. And has a few more goodies on it. I also have 315 Nitto 555r's now, so it hooks and books from a dig. I know I could win that race.

It's fun. Obviously not nearly as quick as the ls1, but it pretty much does everything else ten times better. Torquey little bastard, that's for sure. I've got to get into another rear wheel drive car for the track though, just not sure what yet.

 

Need to find a unmolested 87-93 notchback stang my man...
