I know, I am just having trouble believing this. For once I am not trying to argue with you.

I just find this hard to believe. That would make buying an STI pointless. They are rated at 70 more BHP and are really no quicker? That just doesn't sound right to me.

There's a lot more to the STI than just straight line speed. The engine in the new 06 WRX is basically the same as the STI engine, with a slightly smaller turbo. The STI is so far superior to the WRX though overall as a car. It has a completely different steering rack, better suspension, $3,000+ brakes, DCCD differential control (you can lock the diff like in off-road cars and manually change the power to the front and rear wheels), stiffer sways, HID headlights, and a nearly bulletproof transmission. The tranny in the new WRXs is definitely nicer than the one that is in mine, but it has nowhere near the durability of the STI's.

I have no idea if the new STIs run any different 1/4 mile times than the old ones. Although the new WRX is putting down comparable times to the older STIs, if you were to track the two cars on a road or autocross course, the STI would absolutely annihilate the WRX. There's no doubt in my mind about that. The STI is still a superior track car when compared to the WRX, stock car vs. stock car.

The Forester 2.5L Longblock is the same exact engine as the STI, as is the new 06 WRX. The only difference in the actual motor between the Forester and the STI is the cam.

The WRX has a smaller turbo, intercooler, and different engine management when compared to the STI. The STI heads have a different design as well.
