yeah, I outlaunched him.. and he closed the gap from the 2 car jump I had on em to around 3/4 car like I said... I was in high 4th gear when he had to brake... I only had about 10mph left before I was goin to brake anyway... who knows - if we went again, he might've beat me... but it was fun...

he starts creepin up on me (I started in mid 3rd gear) at about 110...
ORIGINAL: xxkazp3rxx

... I was already doin 100+ and in 4th gear
Are you sure you were doin' 110 in 3rd gear? Positive? And then just a bit over a hundred in 4th? Either you messed your sentences up, or you get real friendly with that rev limiter...

And everyone hates on an LT1. Why? Admittedly, I would prefer an LS1, but I still have a strong-*** motor.

Sure it wasn't a LT1?

In any situation it is very rare to see a LS1 playing catch up.
Please tell me your dumbass reasoning in this. The stang is usually better off the launch. Especially with the 3.90's. Ive been beat by many an LS1 at the track, but I have never been outlaunched by one. They ALWAYS play catchup. Thats their sweet spot. Its not that hard to beat an LS1 in the 1/8 mile, but the damn things WILL catch ur *** after a while. Top end is unbelieveable.

The 03-04 Cobra is an even better example of this. Their IRS often makes them launch not-so-good, but then on the top end- holy crap. Just S/C whine and disappearing tail lights.

You didn't have anything to blink at until you did the LT4 conversion. The LS1 is leaps and bounds ahead of the LT1...now the LT4 on the other hand...

Thats funny because I usually out launch the Stangs, most of them are afraid to really launch thier cars. An auto with a stock converter can be a dog out of the hole. My buddy has an LS1 with huge converter that pulls 1.5 60 foots (and the wheels as well)
And yes that his black notch as well, the LS1 is his street car. The notch is getting a redo this year with a new turbo setup, looking for low 8's. It ran high 8's last year.

There are more variables to launching than just the cars and horsepower. Like traction, tires, track conditions, launch rpm, etc. I try not to let my advisary "Tree" me. I hope to get the best reaction time, that way I don't have to play catch up.
