hmm...while 98ls1 might not be a ford hater..i am...mostly due to what i deal with here...

i am a mopar man...a real one, not like moparman87...

in 1970, the charger 500 came with a 318 standard (as in 70 the 500 was an appearance package, not a performance package like it was in 69), and the performance engine that year was a 440 6 pack...so if your car had a 440 4 bbl, it had 375 stock BHP....and with a cam and intake..and "milled heads"...youre saying that you basically doubled the stock hp?? figure, 375 double is 750..which may yield around 624rwhp...even if it produced 624 crank hp, with those mods, i would be amazed...i know that chrysler under rated the power numbers of the big blocks...but not by enough to allow a cam and inatake, along with chopping the heads a bit to yield those numbers...figure this, R&T testing got a 70 Roadrunner (same chassis) with a 440 6 pack to run a 13.47@106.63 with a torqueflite...thats a 390/490 engine...that means that youir charger should have been well into the...10s?

Well, maybe, but the engine wasn't the stock engine. It originally had a 383. When I got it, He had a 440 which he had rebuilt to a point, I added the cam, manifold, carb and exhaust. But yes it did dyno at 624. I guess I should have told the whole story. I never really got the chance to drag at a track. I did a LOT of street racing with it tho. and I never got beat. So, for not giving the whole history of the motor, I do apologize.

EDIT..
Here's a sort of scary thing. He gave me the original 383 intake. The casting # ended in 666. IT WAS THE DEVIL! LOL

No. Hell, that was in 1991. I got the cam, intake and headers from Galant Racing in Oakland, and they also did the dyno run. But the guy I got it from was my best friend from high school. I grew up with him. So I have no reason to doubt him. The original 383 was seized when he got it. He actually had 2. One he was going to make into a replica Daytona,( he was an awesome body man til he came down with rhumatory arthritus) and the other into a drag strip car. The one I got was the drag strip car. There is 1 pic, the only one I still have, in my photo album. He never completed the replica Daytona, because he couldn't work on cars anymore. They had him on Metatrexate,(sp) which is pretty drastic meds.

No, the charger had a Holley 750 doublepumper with vacuum secondaries, and the Stang had a Holley 650 with vacuum secondaires. The Stang began life as an airconditioned single exhaust, 2bbl setup. I installed an Offenhauser 360 manifold, Comp cam, the Holley, blackjack headers, and hush thrush header mufflers And 69 heads(smaller comnbustion chamber, and larger rocker arm studs) . The Charger, we put a wicked cam in, with the 750 doublepumper, an edelbroch highrise manifold, and stripped everything not race related from it. including the headliner, back seat a/c and heater controls, carpet, heater core..and anything else we could.

So the Charger made 624rwhp with a cam and intake? You sound like my dads older friends who had GTO's that would pull the wheels in 3rd
gear or would run the 1/4 mile in 7 seconds on pump gas and street tires. [8D]
Pfft...Who doesn't have a GTO that will yank the wheels in 3rd.

My brother had a 65 or 66 goat that was AWESOME. 455ci...BUILT with solid lifters and a WAY radical cam, along with other goodies. . That was a ride and a half! 10's easily!!

colbalt ss isnt nothing spactaular... Its a 2.0 ecotec with a maxed out supercharger... I rather have a 03 Cavilier witha 2.2 ecotec & turbo it.

Ok, Ricer

BTW the M62 isn't maxed at the 12.5 psi it makes with the stock pulley. You can go all the way down to a 2.8" pulley and make 18-19.5 psi. There is no max boost from any Eaton SC it's max speed that is it's limiting factor. With a 2.8" pulley it is very close to max speed above 6300rpm.

The GMPP Stage 2 kit includes a 3" pulley which will put it around 15.5 psi, that plus the Re-Flash and larger injectors will put a otherwise stock Cobalt SS around 280-285 crank HP.
