well sorry young guys.............I to at the 17 thought I was a good driver, you'll learn that the only way to get good is to have experience. FYI IM 28 never had a ticket never had a wreack (on the street). I ve been racing cars since I was 8 when I started with go karts then worked my way up. My house a few min from road atlanta and was helping panoz test there cars for a couple of years, so I do have experience but I wont say Im better or worse than you guys all i can say is...................come to the track and well see what you got on a track. Have fun kiddies...........j/k..........Bye the way I have had plenty fast cars tha I would put up against many other guys cars........I do know there is always someone better and faster. But when Im done with my car it will be one bad motha f*****

 

very true there is always someone faster and that goes true with anyone.. i just dont like the stereotype of me being a younger kid means i dont know how to drive, sure it takes experience, but not much, i have been driving for just about 3 years and i think that is experience enough, and as far as the track goes, yeah been there done that, so just quit bad mouthin younger kids, just keep it to rice bashing cuz more then often its the guys with ricers that do dumb **** and not all of them are young kids...

 

Believe what you want, but the reason people think teenagers are bad drivers is simple: It's a Fact.

Look at any statistics you want (Tickets, Accidents, etc.), but teenage drivers generally lack the experience to be great drivers. And if you "know" you are just as good a driver with 2+yrs of experience as I or many others are with 20+ years, you're simply being foolish (another common trait with teenagers). Remember this: All of us "Older Drivers" were once 17 and thought we were awesome drivers too. It's that insight that allows us to place judgement on younger drivers whereas no 17 yr old driver has ever been 38 and is incapable of making an accurate judgement on the abilities of "older" drivers, nor can he realize how much better he will drive with 20 more years of experience.

On the other hand, some young drivers (I'm talking 19-29 here) can often excell in Motorsports simply because they are far less cautious than older drivers and will take chances that more experienced drivers would never dream of taking. Just look at Nascar's "Young Guns". And while it is true that some teenagers can drive better than more experienced drivers, it's much rarer than you think.

Finally, the biggest difference in driving ability between a 17yr old and a 40yr old isn't that the 40yr old can shift faster, launch better, etc. The difference is that the older driver has vastly more experience and will therefore exercise much better judgement than a younger driver. Look at the street race story that started this discussion. The guy races a Porsche, then continues the race while weaving in and out of traffic. Nothing personal, because I certainly enjoyed reading the story, but he clearly was not exercising "Wisdom Beyond His Years" during that race...

well first off i never said i was weveing out of traffic .....i think i stated that and did some nice driving then got to traffic and slowed down. I never endanger anyone on the street other than myself. There are pleanty of youngs who can drive and i didnt mean to bad mouth you, but remember I ve been 16-18 you have never been 28 so when you get 10 more years experience you'll see where I was coming from.
