Another Leaf Spring Question
Hello all! It's been a while but i have another question. I've got a pretty modified 1966 coupe. It's got a 5.0L, a T-5, and a grab a track suspension. I went underneath and i think it's a mid eye 5 leaf. Oh and the back tires are bigger. 235 i think?
I began to notice that the driver's side was a little lower than the passenger side. Then as i drove it more and more (less than 6 months total) i noticed it began to bottom out. I live on a hill and at one point i turned into my driveway and rubbed the tire pretty bad. So yea i think they're shot and starting to sag. I bought the car from my neighbor who said he put on the suspension brand new back in like 96 or 97 and only put 3-5 thousand miles on it since then.
So here's my plan......replace the springs with a 5 leaf stock height pair. I figure the new springs should get me up and stop me from rubbing and the change from mid eye to standard height springs will be insurance. Also it might give the car a cool forward rake!!!!
Is there any downside? I saw one guy write in that it might make the front wheel rub? I think the front is lowered an inch or so......will that be a problem? Thanks for the help!!!!
here's what i'm looking at getting

Not sure i'll have time to read through all of your responses but i decided to go with my gut. I probably could have done the 5 leaf mid eye and been fine but instead I bought the 5 leaf standard eye Scott Drake springs.

I think this will give me the extra insurance that my tire doesn't hook up with the fender and also give me this aggressive rake to scare the women and children. I'll let everyone know how the install goes.

if those spring are about 5 years old and car would just sit there the spring might still be good if there sagging i would check all leafs for rot or cracks and maybe fitted alittle and add a extra leaf to it or if you want to keep it looking stock with a five leaf i would replace some of the steel with the next size up thickness i work on trucks and repair and rebuild leaf springs we get alot of ford exploers that star to sag and if springs are still good this is what i do
we carry thos springs for that car we should have them in stock spring tech corp. 718-617-3030 we have usa made not those china **** . that might also be the prob. they could be cheep china springs so they started to lose shap
