Moron question - strut boot
Hey guys, been a while since I've been on here and I recently inherited my fathers 1998 mustang gt - (he has since moved on to a Focus ST, at 70.) the car has sat for about 3-4 years and I'm going through everything that needs to be replaced.
I purchased all new mounts and inserts for the front end and I'm stuck on the energy suspension strut tower bushing install.
I'm looking at the instructions that make barely any sense to me as some stuff looks upside down. - At any rate - I'm looking at the strut dust cover that has the rubber on it and I'm confused. Do I need it at all? Do I have to hack off the old rubber and try to ram the other piece in there? (the original rubber has a metal washer in it and is held on with a snap ring of some sort) or can I just remove that whole dust cover itself and plop on the new lower bushing? I have no idea what the hell I'm doing with that thing. If anyone has ever installed bushings on the struts please shed some light on this, thanks!
