i dont have a dizzy so anything timing related didn't even come to mind. good luck with the fix, this one's out of my realm.

Could have been a back fire. These engines like to do that if your gunning it and shift fast/hard

Yeah but that wouldn't have caused it to run like shiat after, if the timing changed due to the dizzy gear it could have caused a backfire so it would be related, but a backfire alone it was not.
