You have two good options: 1. Get a mail order custom tune from a good tuner and check it on the nearest dyno (A/F ratio and timing). Or find a good reputable tuner in your area. Most good tuners will give you free tunes as long as you have your car! So anytime you make a mod, a good tuner will update it for free!! Dyno tuning can get expensive. Most tuners charge $250 per first hour and $150 every hour after.
I would not recommend trying to tune these cars on your own!! There are many paramaters and variables that you have to know in order to keep the car drivable and performing at wide open throttle!! One single mistake can cause detonation or a lean condition, wich will cost you your motor! Anytime I make a change to my snake, I take it to the dyno to check the air/fuel, fuel pressure at WOT, maf v. etc..

It will be good to get an auxillary idler pulley as well to help with belt slip. they run around 130-140. That price is good for RR pulley. I got mine from LFP for 89 but if i could do it again i would get the RR or billetflow.

That sounds like a good deal on a RR pulley!! If you choose a local tuner, make sure you do your research!! Otherwise, you could end up with a TOONER and not a tuner!! There are a few companies that make pulley pullers. I have a Metco puller. I believe BF also has one. If you ask the other guys on here, they will probably tell you to get a handheld tuner! Like an SCT or Predator! The reason is becaause the user has endless capabilites to change his/her tune at anytime or anywhere. So you won't have to keep paying to get a chip reburned!! Also, tuners can load the stock tune back into the car for warranty issues without a trace! If you install a chip, you have to sand off the board where the chip plugs into the computer. The dealer will check these things if you bring the car in!!! I have seen it occur alot!! A snub idler is a good suggestion by Spray 175! This will help prevent excessive belt slip! Usually if you drop below a 3.1, a snub idler is recommended! Some respectable tuners will give you a tune if you buy the SCT or Predator from them! Let us know what you find out! There are several members on here that can help guide you and give you good advise about respectable tuners and products!! We are all in this together!!
