Default New Cobra ... Needs Tranny help!

Hey guys I also recently just purchased a 98 Mustang Cobra. It's everything I ever imagined it to be, really an amazing car. It's lazer red & had some mods on it when I got it (short shifter, 4-10 gears, H pipe exhaust, BBK springs, dual friction centerforce clutch, saleen wing) it had 41k miles & I ended up paying $12,000 for it. Some ppl said I paid too much but I don't care it's mine now. Unfortunately I have had problems with it popping out of reverse. Sometimes if I hold the shifter in revers really hard I can back up and it doesn't pop but alot of the time it pops out/grinds *cry*/*embarassing*. All the other gears work perfect. I am wondering if the guy I bought it from installed the short shifter offset & its popping the Reverse out or if I need to get a new transmission. (which would really suck) And if I do get a new transmission (ths stock one is 5 speed) would I be able to get a T-56 6-speed transmission & install that without modification? T-56 says (fits 96-98 4.6L Mustangs with mechanical speedometer then it says in a non-svt mustang requires shortening the crossmember and other minor modification) which sounds to me like it sould go right in b/c mine is an SVT? Am I right or wrong? Any other advice? Anyone have this problem?
