Default 5.4L in a 4.6L Bay??

is it possible to remove the factory 03-04 cobra engine and put in it's place a 5.4L superchargerd engine. in a sense it would basically be the Ford GT engine. also being supercharged as well.

it still wont be the GT engine. there are 3 different 5.4s. I know the 5.4 sohc is direct bolt in for the PI GT bay. i would suspect it would work for your cobra as well. the DOHC from the lightning will probably work too. the GT aluminum block is designed to fit in the back of the GT, so i doubt it will mount easily into any mustang bay. go with the lightning setup, and you will do just fine. u may need a different hood though if u go with a roots or TS SC

Thats a good point on the GT engine. Does the lightning engine have a forged bottom end also like the cobra's does? if so, is it just as strong, or is it stronger?? and i would also be concerned about the header setup as well. seeing that they were two difference engines. would i have to make custom headers, or would the cobra headers work just fine?

i think it is forged, but i only think that because ive seen people boost and spray the crap out of them. no guarantees.
as for headers, u would HAVE to get 5.4L headers, but maybe with some front suspension upgrades (kmember, coil overs, and whatever else) you may have enough room for those headers (which were designed to fit under a pickup). i have personally seen a 5.4 sohc in a 01 GT. it had stock exhaust (5.4 exhaust that is) and it fit in the stock suspension fine, but the guy was having trouble finding headers to fit.

99% sure its forged, svt has a nack for doing some smart stuff to the bottom ends of their engines.

lightning is sohc. BTW youd have to get a navigator motor a complete 03 cobra blower setup and some RR adapter plates.

youd also have to cut a hole in your hood and let the blower stick out. that or get a 6" cowl which would look totally gay. a blower sticking out of the hood would look cooler

in my exp from what i know about engines is that there is no substitute for displacement. sometimes the bigger the better. and i would feel more comfortable is i was throwing 650-700hp at and engine with maybe a shot of giggle gas.
