Default warranty question

ok i have an 04 cobra with some mods; pulley exhaust tuner ....stuff like that and i need to take my car in for the 15000 mile service **** and i need the brakes looked at. are they going to void my warranty because of the things to my car or will they over look it because its a normal check up and i have no problems. the notice i got says that i have to have it serviced or it may void my warranty or i would just blow it off, plus i do need my brakes checked and ****. i know the things i have had done to my car will void it but i really dont want to go through the hassel of putting it back to stock just to take it in of routine maintance

it will all depend on the tech that does the service. i was able to have warranty work performed on my cabra even with all the mods. but that is mostly because we know the tech at the dealer. i would say get the service done and see whqat happens. like you said they're gonna void it anyway if you on't. you may as well take your chances with the tech.

I would say see what you can do. Talk to the tech before you visit because where i go there is only like 1 or 2 techs that are allowed to work on SVT's. If hes a dick about it see if you can change just your pulley back for the ride there and back because thats whats going to void your warranty. The exhaust is nothing but, the pulley is what i'd watch out for if its easily switched back then i would say switch the pulley back.

They can't void your ENTIRE warranty for a pulley swap. If your window switch goes out on your car, that has nothing to do with the engine, they can't void that. Smae with your brakes...THey would have to prove your pulley swap affected your brakes. Pretty hard to prove that if you ask me...

this is true but they could make a note that it had a pulley on it at service and void the warranty on the motor and drivetrain.

If you do that, don't give them your name. Generally dealers are okay with an intake and exhaust mod. Shifter, too. Most will frown on a pulley change, blower port, tune, race suspension, etc. But some dealers are also more lenient than others. However, keep in mind that IF an issue were to arise then the dealer might have to have a Ford tech rep look at your car. And that is when you can expect trouble if you have more than what we call the "dealer friendly" mods. Many demod their cars before taking them into the dealer. A lot of work though. Some dealers can be fooled but others go out of their way to look for signs of mods or racing. I find it aggrevating that Ford continues to tout the performance of the GT-500, even showing the car racing at high speed in Germany. But bring the same car in for warrantee work and if they see signs that the car has been driven like that and they'll raise the red flag on your warrantee. Ridiculous!

P.S. - My dealer was very cool about my mods. They told me up front what mods would be "okay" as far as the warrantee. I knew up front that if I swapped the pulley and got a tune that my warrantee would be shot. Within two months of taking delivery I had a pulley/tune. I accepted that and would never expect the dealer to fix any motor issues from that point on. However, they always took care of me for other warrantee issues like fog lamps failing prematurely, seat problems, etc.

If your car has a tune on it, return it to the stock tune. When they hook up to the computer it automatically goes online to FORD. The tech dosnt have a choice. Tunes will void the engine warranty. Other than that the FORD tech I know says they arnt gonna tell on things like exhaust, springs or gears as long as they dont cause a failure of another component. Superchargers are a NO NO.
The dealer I bought the car from is a *****, dont like the service managers. They try to avoid warranty repairs cause they are so busy w/ more lucrative reapirs as warranty work is a lower rate for them. They told me that my front squeak wasnt covered under factory warranty, bs.
I went to another dealer & they have been great. Fixed the front end squeak, replaced bad shocks.
All w/ the mods listed below. Just return the tune to stock & reflash after visit.
Good luck.

I still have my original pulley and i guess if i need to take it in i can switch it and the tune back. If i change it back will they be able to figure out that i had that stuff on it before. Also I live in the Atlanta area any suggestions on dealerships to go to in this area that do the best work and are the most lenient for Mods?
