When i was coming home from work today, when i pushed the clutch in it started making a loud knocking sound and i felt a vibration on pedal. then it would go away for a while and come back. I did notice it seemed to do it if the RPMs were at 4k or higher. what is causing this?

 

Throw-out bearing is about to go out.

whats the throw out bearing and is it an easy fix? I have to go to work tomorrow is this something i should not drive or if i take it easy i can get by for a couple days?

 

ya you probably could, it shouldnt go out right away but how long has it been doing that? Get it fixed this weekend would probably be the best idea

 

Not so fast on the throwout bearing. My cobra was doing the same thing and it was the metal sleave around the output shaft. The shaft that the throwout bearing mounts on. It was broken from the tranny. It was $800.00 to fix. But if you paying someone do take out the tranny. Its well worth it to buy a new clutch since you dont take down the tranny all the time. This would be a great time for a aluminum flywheel and heavy duty clutch.

 

I took my car in today and you were right it was the throwout bearing. the guy at the dealership told me that the 03/04 cobra throwout bearing was ****ty and if you had problems with it they would replace it even if your warrenty is up
