I know this may be a dumb question but im new to the mustang and muscle car world. I was wonder what oil my 01 cobra should use for best quality. I know royal purple is the best so Im going to use that but should I use 5w20 or 5w30? Also, what type of oil goes in my tranny and rear diff?

 

did you get a manual with the car? it should have all the specs in there, there was a certain year it went from 5w30 to 5w20 and in the differential it went from like 75w90 to 75w130 so i would check, but for your tranny its best to use synchromax automatic tranny fluid (helps prevent wear better...even though its an automatic fluid). Good companies are mobil 1, royal purple and lucas...but never fear motorcraft as it too is also good.

 

Whatever is on your oil cap.

I use 5w20 Synthetic in my 04.

 

I'm almost sure 01 is 5w30
