Well idk about tens i will have to see it... And most of the mags drivers are mostly road race drivers but they do that for a living... But road and track have different drivers for the dif tracks. Thats what they do for a living!!! But i have also seen times in the 12's. Also remember its running on 325 tires so they can still launch the car a little bit and gun it in first because of the big meats so Slicks will help but not by a large ammount. Mabe low 11's but with only mid 400 hp at the wheels we shal see. But on the other hand the new ls3 they are putting in the c6's are way under rated! 436hp at the flywheel with larger cubes bigger cam head and intake and free flowing exhaust sureeee comparied to the ls2.

bug - some of those magazine racers aren't pro drivers - they write for a living... They got a Cobra to put down a healthy 13.2!!!! I mean a 2003 Cobra - some of those magazines are just flat out retarded.. and they're all bias one way or the other...

I can't think of the guys name, but yes he put a C6 Z06 to a 10.9 I think it was with a stock z06 + tires... For the life of me, I can't think of his name - but this wasn't a magazine guy or anything just a guy @ the track...

Stock for stock a c5 z06 will walk a cobra. I know, I have owned both cars. I loved my Cobra, but there is no camparison when you go from a stang to a vette. You also have to remeber that cobras are heavy, 3800lbs while vettes are only 3000lbs. Also, a c6 z06 has 505hp and is very capable of running 11s stock.

The stock z06 C5 weighs more then 3000lbs and the Cobra doesn't weigh 3800lbs; the cobra weights 3665 curb vs the z06 at 3116, which is more like 550lbs vs 800 - it's still a lot but not as bad... but you're right stock 4 stock the z06 will beat the Cobra...

I have never seen a slip from a stock c5 z06 running 11's... I didn't think the gearing would hold up for it... The z06 I drove, I was disapointed in it... 405bhp means, it does has the power disadvantage... the weight is the whole reason why obviously.... and btw.. most z06 owners will not "walk" the Cobra - the z06 should win everytime but it won't be an easy win... with competant drivers... only .3 difference or so..

To get the weight-to-power ratio the same on a 3100 pound 06 Z06 with 505 hp at the crank, you would need a 3700 pound Cobra to be pushing a little north of600 hp at the crank. That's not to mention NA hp versus FI hp......you'll need to pack a lunch on hot, humid days.....and maybe smile easier on cool days.

At the end of the day, 06 Z06's are no joke.....they'll launch better than a Cobra due to tire/suspension/lower center of gravitycombo and they push less airmoving down the 1/4 due to aerodynamics. Z06 weight is a real bonus, but weight distribution is alsobetter in the vette.

my bad James - I misread it.

Mills - getting 600bhp in a Terminator Cobra isn't really that hard.. I probably have 600bhp right now in my car... I haven't run a new vette yet, but our low end was better then the c5 base and z06... and i ripped a few c6's off the line.. Thye have much bette weight distrub, like you said... but straight line racing - they take a lot.... but for us Cobra guys - you need bolt ons w/ a ported blower...

Yes I have Raced a Z06 It was C6 and I put about three cars on him. I am working on my wet shot as we speak so this coming up weekend Its going to be a C6 z06 next
A C6 Z06 has 505hp...1/4 11.6.....I don';t believe you
Amen!! I cruise with a c6 z06 all the time and Terminators can't keep up unless they are making on average of 600hp. I've seen a stock z06 (while granny shifting) dominate everything. They are no joke. So either the vette's driver was a ***** and didn't know how drive or someones full of poop. I vote for the second....

but you guys also have to remember the new zo6's dont have over 500ft tq at the wheels from like 2g rpms all the way to 6 with a porter blower so whoever said humid day will hurt the cobra i think it will hurt the na car a lot more also same deal with hot days. Idk what kind of new stuff that the new zo6 has over the old ls1's but once again i raced my friend aaron that has a c 5 vette with more hp at the wheels then the new zo6's and i beat him on the freeway not by much but i did all the way till 160mph. Also lower center of gravity does not mean a better launch really thats more in the area of road race use the new zo6's have very stiff suspension and not much travel which makes it hard to rock the weight to the back wheels on the launch they spin those hudge stock meats with any hard launch... But they are still mean mean cars!!!
