Default New 4V swap

Hey everyone, i just swapped out my old 98 gt engine for a 98cobra engine and it fit fine everything bolted up well and it runs good it feels alot stronger than my other engine but when i took it to the drag strip last night i wasnt turning any better time than before. about a 14.5.... i dont kno whats going on i have a cold air intake, o/r xpipe2 chamber flows and 3.73 gears, the guy that installed it used my old mass air sensor, does that matter with anything? also i had an sct tune done to my other engine but havent done it to this one yet,any help is greatly appreciated thanks guys

You def. need the cobra computer and the proper MAF for 24lb injectors, your could be pegging out and restricting you. Also, make sure your IMRCplates aren't stuck open. This will make you feel more power up top, but you will lag down low which is where the drag strip is at. You can put your hand behind the engine and move the plates where the cable goes onto the arm. (kinda looks like your throttle cable arm) You should be able to move them freely.

Get a tune and you should be running in the 13's.
Were you spinning a lot more compared to your gt motor? If I'm doing 5mph and hammer the gas, my tires let loose. I have 305's but do have LT's.

yeah i am getting it tuned sometime this week and also changing the mass air sensor b/c i heard about the 24lb injectors as well. i wasn't spinning though but i wasnt launching it but around 2200 so i wasnt coming out well at all.We also figured out what the check engine was, i had 7 codes my intake manifold was being stuck, that was one of the codes also idle sensor, injector codes, so there is alot going on with the computer mostly after it all gets fixed hopefully that will increase the performance, thanks guys, ET time soon to come

Dude, if you dont have that IMRC controller wired in, and those plates are closed, it is goin to be a complete turd. I think you answered your own questions there buddy [8D]

hey i got the car back today from having the IMRC plates open and the right mass air put onand its a hell of alot stronger, but another thing, when i'm backing down in a gear and its slowly revving down if i push the clutch in it will sometimes drop to 0 and the car cuts off anyone know what that could be?

also the ford dealership told me that my processor isnt working so they had to manually open the IMRC plates permanently but its only supposed to open between its powerband is what i'v been told, but if my computer sent me the code to tell me the flaps were shut wouldnt that mean its functioning correctly? my question is does anyone kno what sends the signal to open the flaps?
