1996 mystic cobra

Default 1996 mystic cobra

has ticking noise when first warming up, then goes away after the car has been ran for awhile, any ideas? does it need an engine rebuild

well heres what i think you should do. come to my house, ill give you my keys and title, you give me your keys and title. lol no ive wanted a mystic like my entire life. beautiful cars you should feel lucky. but try adding some lucas oil stablizer to your next oil change. hopefully you change your oil with mobil 1 or some sort of synthetic. youll probably only find it at autozone or advanced auto parts, ive only seen it there. they can tell u all about it.

do you think that will fix it, because i have heard that cobra engines tick alot, is this mainly because of people using the wrong oil? or what? thanks it only has 77k on it so i wouldnt think it would need a rebuild?

i seriously doubt you need a rebuild. and ive not heard that cobra engines tick. mine doesnt, i dont think anyone i knows does.

the 4v top ends make a ****-load of noise. Mine does at least.

Could be the chain adjusters...Im pretty sure they are like the 2V motors and had oil actuated adjusters, once it getsrunning the oil flows to them and quits the noise. I used to think my Cobra made a lot of ticking until finally one day it just started knocking..End of that motor

would the ticking be a wrist pin? if so would that be an easy fix?

a wrist pin? lol the only wrist pin i know of is what connects the piston to the rod. id hope that wouldnt be your troubles andno, not an easy fix lol.
