1995 Cobra R, Which windsor blocks are identical?
Heya guys, I have a 1998 ?Explorer? 351W and I was wondering if it is the same or close to a 95' Cobra R windsor. If its not then which blocks from different vehicles is the same as a Windsor?
Another thing, with newer windsor blocks can you still do the Cleveland head and intake swap???
Thanks again guys

What do you mean, "?explorer?"? Do you not know what you have? If it is a 1997 351, then your motor has a roller cam, the 'R had a flat tappet. Yours is the better motor. With the aftermarket heads now a available for the 351W, why in the WORLD would you put Cleveland parts in it?? Get you some AFR 185 heads, an Edelbrock Victor or Performer 5.8L intake manifold, and a Comp Cams XE232 cam. You'll get close to over 450hp. Your Explorer will then dust a 95'R if you can get traction.

Really? DAYMNz!
Well this makes me happy to know
The reason why I want Cleveland heads is because the block isnt staying 351ci. I Found a all forged 4340 kit w/ h-beam 4340 rods that punches it out to a 427 and those heads wont feed it as well as a set of aftermarket aluminum cleveland heads.
Here are the differences between the heads that I am looking at and the AFR's
-AFR-
*Valve sizes 2.020/1.600
*Combustion Chamber 58cc or 61cc
*Operating Range 1500-6500
*Max CFM Int. 277cfm@0.600" / Ext. 191cfm@0.600"
*Ideal Engine Sizes 302-351ci
*Inline Valves, studs and rockers
Alum Cleveland 4V
*Valve sizes 2.190/1.710
*Combustion Chamber 57cc or 64cc
*Operating range 3500-9000 (Rumor from chat but will call Monday to find out for sure)
*Max CFM Int. 330cfm@0.700" / Ext. 221cfm@0.700"
*Ideal Engine Sizes 347-427ci strokers
*Cantered Valves, studs and rockers
If you want to take a look at what they look like on Ebay here is a LINK I cant find the website that they are from so when I call again Monday I will get the site again.
I was looking at AFR's 225cc Race heads and the 4V heads are still better than them. Another thing with these Cleveland heads is that they are already modded for Windsor blocks by request so I wont have to drill two new water holes in my block.
I have the heads pretty much decided
Trust me though, AFR is a head that I trust and will be going on my Chevelles 427, but in the case of the Windsor I will have to go with a Clevor build Nothin like mixin Big Block heads with a Small block
