I'm not much of a rear end guy, but if I'm not mistaken, 94-04 will all fit on it just fine. (I dont know about newer?) They are all 8.8" live axle's. In fact, I believe I've read that the 99-04 rear ends are a little bit longer and therefore make the tires fit even better in the fenders. You could even replace it with the 03-04 cobra IRS if you so choose.

My question would be what is wrong with it? To me it would seem that if there is anything so badly damaged on it that it can't be fixed a lot cheaper than buying a whole new rear end, then I'd be worried about the rest of the car. Are you thinking the differential is bad? Axles? Even so, you you might be interested in moving up to a 31 spline setup instead of buying another stock axle.

well i baught the car recently and i put it on stands, and one of the wheels wobbled, excessivly so i replaced that axle shaft. then i was told that the other axle shaft is also wobblin, but just a little. So no i have to replace that one, but i noticed now that when i turn , only right hand turns, i hear a loud noise, like some kind of metal contacting eachother, or like metal grinding sound......i have no damn idea........any input? maybe my bearings ?

I know that a pre 99 axle out of a GT is 3 inches more narrow than a 99-04. You may want to call a shop if nobody can help you here. But im not sure if the Cobra falls into that too.....

It is, but I'm fairly certain it makes no difference, in fact it pushes the wheels out 1.5" on both sides making them more flush. I'd actually try to get that.
