Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and already need help

Well my 03 Cobra had what I thought to be the dreaded head tick....It sounded exactly as all of the clips I have seen on the net of the tick....So I purchased the revised heads and all supporting additions (gaskets, fluids, ect....). I spent the entire weekend replacing the heads....wow what a job.....but guess what still ticking...I also did the Even Flo mod while I was at it....and installed ARP head studs.....

It sounds just as it did before....from up top, it sounds like it is coming from the front, and from down low it sounds like it is coming from all over....I am out of ideas....

I did not replace any of the timing components....Just the cam and crank bolts....I also put new spacers behind the 2 cams.....it still has all of the original chains, followers, auto chain tensioners...

With the heads off, the cylinder walls looked perfect....you could still see the hash marks from the hone....no groves, or scuffs.....it still has great oil pressure...and tons of power....

I am open for suggestions....what would you guys lean toward.....Here is a video of how it sounds after the head swap....remember this is just how it sounded before the head swap....

I just installed the updated 05 revised heads, and still have the tick.....nothing changed.....

 

i had a tick and it tuned out to be form the bottom end, even though it sounded like it was coming form up top. try getting in the car set the emergenct brake as tight as you can. have someone lay down toward the bottom of the car and put the car into gear and give it a little gas as you let the clutch out and put a load on the motor. if the ticking stops i would say i is bottom end. thats how mine was and turned out to be piston rings.

 

just watched your video, sounds identical to what mine sounded like. if i could not see the car i would swear i was hearing my engine. cheapest way to know is do a compression check. if that comes back bad do a leak down test and you will know exactly where the issue is.

What did you do on yours? New shortblock, or rebuild yours....

motor is out right now, it is getting bored .20 over and a new set of pistons and rings.
