quick 03 question
Ok so Im really considering selling my 95 cobra for a down payment on an 03 cobra, Just wondering if theirs anything specific I should look for like any modifications that I dont really want to see on the car before I purchase, Im pretty good with the 5.0 motors however the Dohc 4.6's are a little new to me.
Well if the car has a different pulley on it that means the guy was looking for more hp but you never if they did if it has the stock one on because they could have just switched it back. Just look for low miles and pray I guess...

You can look at the pulley and tell if it's been tampered with. You may need to remove the cover to see it and maybe see if there's in/out play. You can't check side to side as the belt is too tight. Test drive them and make sure it shifts clean and doesn't make any sounds around turns, like a clunk or bang. (suspension or more like worn out diff clutch packs if it bangs) Make sure the motor sounds smooth with no noises at idle. Do yourslef a favor and go to Sears or somewhere and buy a mechanics stethoscope to hear the inside of the motor. Well worth the investment even for a onetime use. I would do the obvious like check the oil and pop the oil cap to make sure there's no milky substances in there. (coolant leak or lots of moisture) The main concern on these car is the motor is solid. They are the most expensive repair for the cars.
This website is very informative and will help out when purchasing your car. Helped me a ton on mine.
