I have a 98 Cobra, and it's been whining in 4th and 5th too. Not sure what it is, and it hasn't been doing it very long. It's only got 50 on the clock and pretty fresh fluid in the trans.

i read on another thread that sometimes the aftermarketgears will make a bit of noise and that swapping to an aluminum driveshaft will help reduce vibration therefore reducing whining noise. Dont know from experience though.
