Default 01 Cobra IRS - good or bad?

I found an 01 Cobra with 88k miles for 13k at a dealer locally that's basically stock aside from a CAI. I've always been a huge Cobra fan and would love to have it but I've read in various places that the IRS is crap compare to other IRS setups. Is it really that bad? What's bad about it? I understand the live axle is better for drag racing but is that everyones reasoning? I'm more interested in autox/HPDE events and will most likely never run an FI setup so huge power breaking the IRS isn't a concern to me. From a handling standpoint is the IRS a good improvement over the live axle? Are there any common IRS issues I should be aware of? Thanks!

the Ford IRS is the worst on the market. It can snap even on a stock car, the major thing to remember is that if it starts to wheelhop stop pressing the gas - do not try to power through it. If you follow that you should be fine.

13k is the KBB retail price and it's at a dealer so...

It wheel hops? Ouch... How is it as far as handling is concerned?

I love my IRS. Simple lowering kit and bushing swap cancelled out the wheel hop. The handling and ride is really nice

that's because whenever you buy a car that has any type of mod's,, the price gets lower becaue nobody will want to buy it because they think it has been beat... and plus there is a huge difference between a 99 cobra and a 01... the 01's are way better than a 99

as long as you get your foot off the gas when you feel that wheel hop your fine.. besides you would never want to launch a cobra at high rpm's anyway because all it will do is spin.. i have my car lowered and i still get wheel hop..

also i drift in my car and i get no wheel hop what so ever.. the irs is way smoother that a solid rear and it handle's a lot better that a solid rear. imo i like the irs way better than anything...
