Beware the bottom ends they have rod bearing problems with low mile car as low as 20k miles. The bottom ends are not great I would leave it n\a the cam choice is pretty good comes on around 3500 rpm, my car is blue, and a 9 out of 10 looks really goodin and out the color is why I bought it they made 536 of them in that color for 98. I like the look of the cobras sn 95 use it as a DD I 2nd the bad parts in the bottom end and the transmission is not that great, but mine fells pretty good. Car has 55k miles had a rod bearing go bad , instaaled a ford service block that has the rod bearing problem solved its a really nice car now.
BUT after driving the 98 around for a week or so and then pulling the termie out of the garage it is just a way faster car night and day.

A lot of it has to do with the build quality too... The newer the mustang the better the build.. the 94-98 are better then the foxs... the 99-04 are better then the 94-98, and the 2005 and up are better then the rest...

Personally, I have had a 05' V6, a 03' Mach, a 03' Terminator, a 96 Cobra, and a 04' GT... and I actually like the Mach the best... just wish it had the power my Terminator had.. lol

I like their tailights if that accounts for anything...I remember rolling up behing one with fat meats, like 275's or something and thinking "I don't want anything to do with that".

well they do have the nice breaks like the 03-04 so they did a great thing those years. Also the larger scoops and rear wing those years let you know its a cobra.

got a 97 cobra, and i love it. i do have to agree with limp1969 about the bottom ends being weak. my stockengine has 129k on it, and it locked up without warning (full pan of freshoil, never overheated). i want to get a stroker SBwith P&P stock heads and mild cams.[8D]

Love mine. Lot less expensive that a terminator, yet I acheive the same power.

98 Cobra
63k chassis
25k motor = forged pistons, ported and polished heads
4:10 gears
Eibach Suspension= full
moser axles
steeda triax shift
SLP loudmouth exhaust
Yellow/black leather

Needs a better tranny!! I'm thinking a T-56
