Gt-500 VS. Terminator

RE: Gt-500 VS. Terminator
In all actuallity, being that thepower to weight ratio for these two are as close as they are, the driver skill and launch etc... are much more important. but if you want to play the whole p/w thing:
GT500: 3920lbs-440rwhp = 8.91lb/hp
03 Cobra: 3650-370 rwhp =9.86lb/hp
With that said, I don't even think this applies to the argument. I wasn't trying to say a GT500 could never be beat by a cobra, they can and have been. Is the GT500 faster? Yes, stock for stock not by to much, although it does swing in the GT500's favor with bolt ons.it is more of a driver's race then the car's.
I was saying that I doubt the Cobra was stock, thats all. Go ahead and pause the video at 47 seconds and tell me what you see.

RE: Gt-500 VS. Terminator
i'll have to do that when i get back home.
the GT500 also has the advantage of solid rear, yes it does swing toward the 500 in bolt ons it can push far more air in and out due to its 5.4l compare to the 4.6l.

RE: Gt-500 VS. Terminator
This is from the owner of the GT500 used in the video:
"Here is a little more insight.
I used to believe everything I read and saw on comparisons like these.
Now I just use them for entertainment and this is a very good example.
My car was 100% bone stock. The Terminator wasn't. It had suspension mods, cold air intake, exhaust and he "SAID" he put the 'stock' pulley back on.
There was no tech inspection, hoods where never popped.
The Termi and the 500 dragged 3 times.
All three times the Termi chased down the 500 at the end of the strip.
So how stock was it?
The Termi was running on worn tires and brakes. Mine were basically new.
So how accurate are the road times?
Willow Springs is a Road Course. There was a measured 1/4 mile on the straight but notice no Christmas tree.
I don't know the method of timing. It may have been a dropped flag with a stop watch.
I inquired several times about the times and they never gave them to me.
I didn't know the times until the video.
The times are suspect.
Sam did take me for a couple of hot laps with a borrowed helmet.
He liked the car so much that when he came in he said grab a helmet, let's go. The thrill of experiencing a REAL professional throw my car around the course is exhilarating.
Doing things I can only imagine, full four wheel drifts, attacking the apexs with precision. What a rush.
He said the only thing the car lacked was suspension. Which to everyone who has one already knows. For some weird reason these things sit high and soft from the factory.
But just like Harley Davidson they already have a whole upgrade package engineered that you can spend money to correct it.
I used to believe everything I read and saw on comparisons like these.
Now I just use them for entertainment and this is a very good example.
My car now has springs, shocks, CAI, muffs and a pulley.
When I picked it up my tuner said, now have those guys run that Termi.
The funny thing is had I shown up with these mods and not told them, they would have done it, crushed the Termi and presented it is fact.
I now believe comparisons even less.
I didn't take any of it very serious, just entertainment."[/align]

RE: Gt-500 VS. Terminator
Agreed, I guess really, unless the owner of the 03 comes foward, no one will ever really know.. It would have been helpful if they had shown the trap speeds for the runs (although they had no timingso how accurate were the times???)...It would have been easy to tell had the cobra run a 12.6@111 vs 12.6@120..

RE: Gt-500 VS. Terminator
Guy who owns the performance shop I use and are Mustang
and turbo-mustang specialist just got a GT-500 not too long ago.
His words:
" It just drives too nice not to have one, probably one of the smoothest feeling Mustang I've ever driven"
I just thought the vid was cool little piece of fluff.
I always take these "magazine" and "tv show" reviews with more than a grain salt
be it car comparison or some magic numbered engine build.
