New member, question on octane rating
Hi. I recently purchased a 2001 Mustang Cobra SVT convertible. It has 12,000 miles on it, and it's a 5-speed. I was wondering what kind of gas I should be running in it. The dealership told me premium, but here in Wisconsin mid grade is often 91 and premium 93, whereas in Michigan mid grade is often 89 octane and premium 91. I guess I am looking for the octane rating as a number that I should run, as the names tend to change and relate to different numbers.
Here are some pics:
Also, below is a pic of my offroading truck. It's a 1991 Explorer with a 5-speed manual, lockers front and rear, a transfer case doubler, 5.13 gears, discs, 35s", 5.5" lift, and a 4.0L V6 that I built a few years ago.

RE: New member, question on octane rating
Yes, it's totally stock. When I bought it, it still had the original factory washer fluid in the reservoir. It had never been driven in the rain.
Plan on keeping it totally stock, as it's got plenty of power and the Explorer keeps me busy as far as mods go.

RE: New member, question on octane rating
To answer your question your car runs on Premium (91 Octane)
No matter where you are:
91 = premium
93 = Super Premium...
You can run either safely as long as you're stock... however, if you get a tune, they might tune it for 93 only, so you need to make sure they put the tune for 91 octane if you can't always get 93...
If 91 is available, I will put that in as it doesn't hurt the car.. it's actually the octane the stock tune is set to burn... Every penny helps these days..
