Default ABS Light -99 Cobra Help!

Hi,

I have a 99 Cobra that has the ABS light coming on every 10 or so miles, then goes off again. I cleaned the sensors on all for wheels and that did not fix it. Hiow do you read the codes for the ABS system without a code reader? Is there a way to do it? I am just trying to diagnose it without taking it in to the stealer (dealer)... Also, is there a way to read the codes for the Engine or Airbag systems without a code reader?

Tx,
Rob

I would start with your manual and check the fuses. I was toying with the idea of disabling the ABS, but the code in computer memoryis ultimately what deterred me from leaving it disabled (liability if an accident and code is pulled and given to insurance company). Seems to me that when I pulled the fuse, the light came on in the dash, cannot recall for sure.

You could disable it and the simply call the insurance company and tell them your car does not have ABS. They will take it off your policy.
