Default Oil leaking

Need some help. My car leaks oil when I shut it down, and from the looks of it, it leaks most if not all the oil. If I put oil in it while the car is off it won't leak. If I drive it, it won't leak. But as soon as I shut the engine off, the oil spills out of it. Any ideas or suggestions as to what's going on and/or how to fix it? Thanks

You are going to have to give us an indication of where you see the oil leaking.

Due to a recent apendectomy I can't really get under the car to have a good look. I did manage to kneel down and take a quick peek. it looks to be leaking near the drain plug. I just don't understand why/how it leaks when shutting it off and not while running/idling.

I agree, it seems odd to me as well. Maybe there is a crack/split in the pan below the oil level. Afteroil is warm from a cruise and is parked, the level reaches OVER the hight of the crack and leaks out?

This is a FAR fetched explanation as a crack seems very UN-likely, but cannot think of another reason at the moment. Make an appointment at a shop and drive it down there and have them hoist it up as soon as you arrive, they will find it.
