Default Cobra Rubber

Guys,
Looking to lowering the cobra and once complete, I want to add thicker back tires to offer it a meaner stance and look. Can I add wider tires to the original cobra 17" rims to get that thicker, meater look or do I need to look at purchasing new 18" rims with thicker tires? Don't know much about tires and what can fit on what, so thought I would try asking you all.

on a 96 cobra you can run up to a 315 width but you will have to take out the quad shock and will need 10 inch wide wheels

i think youre thinking of flipping the quad shock, but i dont believe it needs to be done with 315's. you will need to do something with it though if you want to fit 335's out back.

your question with the stock cobra wheels, i had 275's a set of 17x8's. they fit, but they definitely bulged. not that thats a bad thing, but if you want the tires to fit normally, you'll want a wider wheel. if you want 315's out back you'd want at least a 10, prefferably a 10.5" wheel, as opposed to the 8" wheel you have now.

im probably gonna do 335's out back sometime in the fall, which ill have to either flip or remove the quad shocks, and roll the fenders.

Def. post some detailed pics when done, please .

I am currently running 315's on 11' wheel on my '02 with rolled fenders and PHB/torque-arm with no rubbing. I think this suspension set-up allows some additional room due to straigth up/down articulation without the forward/reverse movement added by standard 4 link set-up. I think a 335 would look awesome, but likely do some pretty serious work to outside of fender to clear.

I wish you success and would love to see some pics when completed
