If it's locked up from bearing seizure, then a rebuild is a must. Reman crank and other minor components. Labor is the $$$$ part there. Mod engines are very costly. You can pick up an Aluminator engine from Jegs that's all aluminum and fully forged longblock complete minus intake (need newer style intake) for $6200. They have them on Ebay as well for a little cheaper like $5400 shipped 10:1 compression for N/A. Best deal out there!

 

I say look into a rebuild. Great teksid block and crank on 1999. I had mine rebuilt with forged internals, .020 bored overand stage 2 ported ported heads reassembled long block for $3569. If not look into a short block. MMR usually has decent prices. The labor of a reinstall is what killed me. very pricey. Shop around your area for good reputable shop. My first shop wasn't very reputable. If in Southern CA, PM me and I'll tell you there name. I finally used JBA in San Diego.Good guys there.

My engine locked after my aod decided to take a dump. I had to break the tranny housing so I could get the toque converter bolts off the flywheel. AOD's suck!!

Again, Pull all of the plugs and turn it over by hand at the crankshaft.
Clean or install new plugs.
