I went and looked a 99 Cobra recently and looked under the hood. I thought I was going to break the damn thing because it took so much to shut it.

Don't drop it. Put it down gently then give it a sharp push to close it.

I work in a body shop for a living. Your every day metal hood should be able to close easily from about a 1 foot drop. A fiberglass hood you don't want to drop thats how you break them. Just shut them till the safety latch catchs and then just give it a light push. If that doesn't work and you have push pretty hard then just adjust the latch. Sometimes the after market hoods aren't exactlyformed like the factory hoods.
