i heard the internals in the gt500 are not as good as the 03/04 cobras on average and putting more than 700rwhp you are on borrowed time. I think kazap or however you spell it said that a long time ago.

how well do the heads flow on the gt500? did the gt500 get the 2000 cobra R heads or the ford GT?

that is not true they are much better than the 03/04 cobra. i highly doubt shelby would make the super snake with knowing it cant handle 725hp. they are good for 1200hp which is 400hp more than the termis.

Technically, the Shelby doesn't have as "strong" as a bottom end then the Terminator Cobra. Cracked forged rods if I remember correctly is what does it, which aren't as strong as the Manley ones that are in the 2003-2004's....

But, the top half of the motor is better then the Cobra. It has been holding more power then a lot of people thought it would, but there have been a few that haven't been able to take the power.

But remember, the 5.4 DOHC motor can be put under the same amount of stress if not less then the 4.6 DOHC and still have more power to it because of the displacement and the things Ford learned with their mistakes in the 03/04.

You can port the blower in the Shelby's, but in order to get a the smaller pulleys on it you actually have to modify the blower snout (unless they've figured out a better way now - i've been out of the loop for a while).. and to make all things equal because of the weight of the Shelby you have to have a bit more power to offset it versus the Terminator... that is of course, unless you lighten that big girl up a lil bit.

hmm, you can get an 03 down to around 3100lbs VERY easily, and a GT500 sits at about 3900lbs

yeah, no, I wouldn't touch one. I love em and all, but sorry, just too much weight for me

03 cobra - 3665 lbs. 08 Shelby 3920 lbs. The rods are no weaker or stronger for all intents and purposes, if it happens to break at a given power level... it could have happened on either one. The weight difference is really not all that much, and in fact im pretty sure the Shelby has less sprung weight and with the added torque they are about even. Both of them have been pushed over 1000 hp, but that doesn't make doing that a good idea. I think the take home point is that as long as your running pump gas the motor will hold all the power you want make, which is going to end up being 800rwhp or less as a general rule

you can go down to a 2.6 without touching the snout. we just did a pulley swap on my dads 08 on thursday. picked up 53 whp going from stock to the 2.6.

Blown - how low do the pulleys go? I'd be surprised if that's all it picked up... I would've thought more... That's right about what my Cobra had... it went from 370 to 440 with just a 2.81 and a catback exhaust.... (dont remember actual #'s is approx.)

the stock pulley on a 03/04 is a 3.65 though so going to a 2.81 is a .84" drop. The gt500 stock pulley is a 3.0 or 3.1 i think so dropping to a 2.6 is only a .4 decrease in size. to give you an idea his car with a intake, pulley full exhaust and tune made 554whp. it made 501 on exhuast, intake, tune. He also has an afco HE.

I LOVE it when people talk out of their ASSES!

Go figure! Shelby's come with forged I beam rods. Termi's come with forged h beam rods...

HMM... Wonder which one is better, LOL!

Termi's have stronger rods... Not Shelby's...

Besides, on race gas, and a good tune, Termi's have gone PAST the 1200 rwhp mark! As long as the heads are studded, they can handle it... Also, with all of the supporting and cooling mods...
