97 cobra smog pump?
Well I just bought a 97 svt cobra and on the drive home it threw a chack engine light. I checked the code and it was p0411, which after a few minutes on google I realized was quite a common code. It has to do with the smog pump some how being faulty. Mainly it's just emissions bs. But I deleted the code hoping it was just coincidence, as the car had mostly been sitting for 8 months. But it came back on after about ten miles or fifteen miles. so I decides I need to check and maybe replace the smog pump, but the thing is, after searching on the internet and my hanes manual, I can't find where it is, or how to take it off... if you guys could maybe shed some light in general on my situatuion, that would be awsome.

well, scince it's not belt driven I don't think it is as easy as just removing it. I read somewhere there is a delete kit or something, but I can't find that either. It also just seems easier to replace it if I'm gonna spend a lot of money on a kit to delete it...
But I'm gonna go look a little harder for it todat when I detail my engine bay, so I hope I can atleast find where it is, even if I can't figure out how to replace it... I'm not even 100% sure how much it costs... lol

You can get by the smog with a tune, it will say N/A not fail when they scan the computer. Then the retared CA smog inspecter with the lisp will say "Thats funney Ive never seen that before." I mean Its not like im speaking from experience or anything ; )

same problem
the pump should be under the passenger side front bumper by the radiator support....it's stupid and all it does is send air to your exhuast to burn up extra fuel in your cats..it's like 100 buck for the new pump but i'd check your fuse's first cuz thats kinda common too

The smog pump is located in the passenger side fender well. Remove the stock air cleaner assembly and look in the hole in the fender where the intake draws air from, it is just below this. It is electronically controlled and if bypassed by simply unplugging it, you will not see any driveability issues. All it does is inject fresh air into your exhaust system to optimize catalyst efficiency, thus reducing emissions. I have a 97 cobra and I have bypassed mine with no ill affects.
